ACHIEVING GREATNESS

"Your playing small doesn't serve the world.  There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you."

Nelson Mandela

The charter school movement is composed of individuals who do not "play small."  They are individuals who become involved in the movement because they have an educational vision they want to achieve, want the freedom and autonomy to pursue that dream, and have a special population of students they want to serve.

The conference is being developed to help you achieve your dreams - to achieve greatness.

Interaction
The charter community is known for its camaraderie and enjoyment at being together. There are many events and activities designed to ensure the maximum amount of interaction, including:  the Opening Reception, Affinity Groups, Roundtables, Presenter/Attendee Interaction, Awards Dinner and opportunities to meet and interact with Vendors offering a variety of products and services for your school.

The Conference Philosophy

The conference is built on the three cornerstones of why people attend conferences.
  • INSPIRATION
  • INFORMATION
  • INTERACTION

Inspiration
We have a line-up of speakers and activities that are designed to be inspirational, to ensure that the "fire stays lit."

Information
The conference is intended to address the biggest concerns/issues you have, including:  Funding, e.g., accessing full and equitable funding and categorical block grant funding; curriculum flexibility and innovation, facility costs and issues, special education, credentialing flexibility, charter boards, and alternative authorizers.

 - University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law

On Saturday and Sunday the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law, will hold a national conference on trends and policy issues for charter schools.

CCSA is very pleased to be affiliated with this conference, and we are including this as a pre-conference opportunity for those who will also be attending our conference.

The McGeorge conference addresses the following areas:

  • The role of public policy initiatives and the legal system in education reform

  • Facilitation of successful educational policy and structure for charters and choice

  • Fairness in implementation: cybercharters; legal advice
For additional information and how to register for the conference go to www.edlaw.org.

The 11th Annual California Charter Schools Conference is a vital part of the strategy and commitment of the California Charter Schools Association to deliver what the public charter schools need now: help in delivering the essential services and products for advocacy, quality, and leadership.

The Association provides networking, best practice and learning environments for teachers and administrators, and provides members with resources, leadership and support they need to work effectively with public non-charter schools in ensuring that all students get a fair chance to succeed.
